Scheduling using Clustermarket

EMLab Scheduling

Users affiliated with BYU can schedule a time to use the Electron Microscopy Facility using the Clustermarket online scheduling software. Those who are NOT affiliated with BYU must contact one of the facility personnel for scheduling.

About Clustermarket

Clustermarket is designed for equipment and services scheduling within the members of a lab and can be made available to members of affiliated labs as well. All scheduling and billing data are handled by the Clustermarket program. Part of this service allows for billing of equipment using "projects." These projects will be set up for each professor/researcher by the Electron Microscopy Facility staff and must be done prior to assigning any students to use the facility.

We are currently maintaining all of the projects used in the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility. Faculty and other researchers who wish to use the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility should contact the lab to set up their project.

What Are Projects?

Projects are the means that Clustermarket uses to keep track of billing information. The project form on our website asks for the following things:

  • A unique name so we can keep track of the project.
  • The primary investigator (P.I.) of the project. This person is usually a professor but doesn't have to be. They are the one responsible for the overall success of the project.
  • A project description section that allows anyone who has access to the project to know more of the details about the project such as:

    • What is the purpose of the project?
    • What is the scope of the project?
    • Who are the collaborators for the project?
  • Billing information for the project. This includes:

    • The BYU account number
    • The date the account expires
    • The budgeted amount from that account that is allocated towards this project.

More on Billing

Each project can have multiple billing accounts and can be edited as needed to keep the project current. If a project has multiple billing accounts, then it is the responsibility of the P.I. to inform the student(s) working on the project how the distribution of charges should be made across the various billing accounts.

Keep in mind the following important notes about billing accounts:

  • Any billing account that expires will NO LONGER be available for use.
  • The budget amount for each billing account is for tracking only and WILL NOT stop a user from using the account when it shows that it is depleted.

Each P.I. and/or account owner is encouraged to become a member of the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility Lab in Clustermarket as this will allow them to keep track of their equipment usage/billing status in an on-demand fashion.
