Publication Policies

Introduction:

The BYU Electron Microscopy Facility is heavily subsidized by the university and by the three science colleges; College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering, and the College of Life Sciences. Because of this all published work that utilizes the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility should at the very least acknowledge the facility in the acknowledgement section of the publication. It is also highly recommended that for data that was acquired through extensive assistance of the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility staff the acknowledgement should also include the name of the staff member who provided the assistance. Furthermore any publication where BYU Electron Microscopy staff has had significant input to the content of the publication an authorship for the staff member should be included.

Requirements:

When acknowledging the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility please use the following text or something similar:
"We would like to acknowledge the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility for providing access to the equipment and expertise that allowed this project to be performed."

All forms of publication need to be included in this requirement. This includes published papers, thesis, book chapters, meeting proceedings, poster presentations, platform presentations, etc.

All publications that acknowledge the BYU Electron Microscopy Facility or that include one of the staff members as an author needs to be reported to the facility by using the Publication Submission Form.
